General Responsibilities

Account Manager - Uxbridge

The Account Manager is responsible for the day to day contact and business development of the GSA (General Sales Agents – these are third parties who Hertz appoint to represent them to sell outbound business in a market) network within the EMEA region

The role focuses on getting the best out of the appointed GSA’s in every market, maximising the outbound revenue opportunity for all destinations globally

The following brands are included under the Manager’s responsibility – Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty and Firefly

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support the EMEA GSA network, working with each GSA organisation to ensure all outbound business is fully exploited

  • Support the Director in contractual negotiations with the GSA’s through running RFP’s to find the best partner to work in each market, then look to get the best commercial agreement for the GSA costs

  • Input and help set up the metrics to evaluate the existing GSA network, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the GSA partners

  • Work with the Director to help develop annual Business Plans (BP’s), targets and objectives by GSA territory for source/destination outbound business that support the wider corporation revenue targets

  • Work with the Director to create the strategy in coordination with the GSA and liaise with Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management teams to identify outbound opportunities, and get the GSA the right rates and products to go to market and achieve the targets

  • Implement business development plans to meet these targets, that optimise the business in accordance with the Company’s growth and profit objectives

  • Increase outbound market share in both Indirect (travel trade, travel agents, tour operators, OTA’s etc) business and Direct (consumer direct, websites, call centres etc) business (where applicable)

  • Work with recipient regions (NAM, LAMC, APAC & EMEA) to ensure strategy of pricing and fleet are aligned and conducive to inbound business

  • Focus on account profitability as well as top line revenue growth

  • Work with the other Travel Distribution team members to support business segments managed by the GSA network

  • Build industry knowledge, expertise and relationships through forums such as travel conferences, trade shows and webinars

  • Identify potential new partners, and support the GSA’s and prepare commercial proposals to win new business, in line with objectives

  • Follow the multi brand strategy for the GSA network, maximizing the opportunity by selling all brands

  • Where relevant, work closely with Marketing to develop detailed marketing and promotion plans

  • Improve business processes, reporting and streamline distribution systems, looking for the lowest cost and most automated way of operating with the GSA’s

Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor degree preferable, but relevant work experience also considered

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in sales functions, preferably in an international environment

  • Experience of working and operating in cross border teams and international markets would be beneficial

  • Experience in providing input into developing sales and marketing strategies for quality growth and retention, across different segments

  • Proven track record of Account Management

  • Proven track record of relationship building skills

  • Experience in providing input into developing strategies for growth

  • Good negotiating skills

  • Financial acumen with an attention to detail
