General Responsibilities

Responsible for the strategic development of the procurement function in Europe to support the delivery of the divisional and corporate business objectives. Managing relationships with the Fleet Managers, Regional Vice Presidents, European and Global Centres of Expertise to ensure procurement strategies are aligned with business targets and growth objectives for Europe.

The role will be responsible for managing the relationship and performance of the Procurement Outsource Service Provider within Europe. The role will be accountable for the delivery of all targets, KPI’s and SLAs for Europe and the executive reporting to senior management as required.

  • Acting as the interface to the Hertz organization for the Procurement Outsource Service Provider to facilitate the resolution of European issues at all organizational levels.

  • Managing the implementation of the Procurement Outsource Service Provider change program that drive continuous improvement (lean sigma process reviews). Implement process change and effect the realignment of roles and responsibilities as required and change policies and procedures where needed.

  • Approve all European/Pan European sourcing strategies and final supplier selections proposed by the Procurement Outsource Service Provider and ensure alignment with global strategies, policies and procedures.

  • Promote cross functional team working and create virtual teams as required to deliver value and savings from complex spend categories.

  • Manage contractual and financial change resulting from sourcing initiatives and champion compliance and execution so that all benefits are fully delivered.

  • Coordinate with the MIS CoE to ensure that appropriate enabling technology is deployed to support the delivery of procurement objectives.

  • Participate as part of the Global Procurement CoE leadership team to ensure appropriate development of the strategy, resources and technology for the procurement and supply chain function.

  • Manage all internal stakeholder relationships and promote the adoption of best practice procurement processes with in the business.

Educational Background:

  • degree or equivalent with some post graduate professional accreditation

Professional Experience:

  • Proven track record with at least 10 years of procurement experience in a progressive organisation. Demonstrable experience in the delivery to the bottom line of significant savings and efficiency targets in a multi-billion-dollar international services organization. Experienced in developing and leading cross functional teams and practising remote virtual management. Possessing credibility, integrity and the ability to influence at all organisational levels.


  • Strong strategic procurement and supply chain background with experience developing strategies in international environments

  • Broad category knowledge across a range of goods and services

  • Experience leading cross functional teams on sourcing initiatives

  • Ability to evaluate and deploy enabling technology to support procurement strategies.

  • Change agent with a strategic view of business requirements and a deep knowledge of procurement best practices in the external market.

  • Financial and business acumen.

  • Knowledge of business process improvement techniques.
