General Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Search Engine Optimisation Executive, reporting to the Digital Experience Manager EMEA of the Hertz Corporation in Uxbridge, United Kingdom.

Drive enhanced web performance through SEO and merchandising projects to increase number of visits and improve conversion for visitors coming through this channel to the website.

Key Result Areas:

Development SEO Capabilities of the Site

  • Analyse the Hertz websites for optimisation and prioritise projects and technical development with e-commerce to ensure that all Hertz websites and internet properties have been technically optimised to attract and engage those visitors that closely match the agreed profile of the target audience

  • Develop content strategy to ensure that all content is of the right quality and quantity to drive Hertz natural referencing in search engines (websites, mobile, videos etc

  • Use SEO tools to monitor and optimise on-site activity, identifying actionable changes to site architecture, taxonomy, internal linking and other important on-site ranking factors

  • Run keyword analysis to identify new opportunities for page and content expansion

  • Work with the Online User Experience Manager to monitor customer behaviour to improve on-site navigation and search functionality

Development of offsite activities to increase natural ranking of the site

  • Promote offsite activities, to include social media, blogs, authoritative link partners and other related actions to increase ranking, profile and traffic for Hertz sites across Europe

  • Monitor competitor, industry and best practice SEO sites, activity and keywords, using findings to make recommendations for Hertz

General Management (SEO)

  • Help set, and work to, performance indicators for SEO that everyone understands and which complement overall marketing and business objectives

  • Manage SEO agencies to ensure timely delivery within budget

  • Manage the budget for online development and online content

  • Provide SEO guidance to other marketing teams

  • Align SEO activity with paid search activity and PR guidelines

  • Lead the European SEO expansion, sharing best practice with the local country teams

  • Responsibility to ensure all brand campaigns are optimised to support SEO activity

Inbound/Outbound support

  • Responsibility to improve SEO rankings and drive more organic traffic to UK, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Germany and Spain from all Hertz websites globally

  • Identify opportunities to drive more revenue into Europe

  • Prioritise and manage SEO agency work to ensure meeting deadlines

  • Support Franchise markets with SEO, providing them expertise and support to drive more organic traffic to their markets.

  • Work with USA, APAC and Latin America to identify opportunities for revenue growth.

Drive strategy to increased visits to the website using SEO, thereby reducing overall cost per acquisition for Direct and making the brand more engaging

Essential requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in online. A proven track record of optimizing SEO performance of sites

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)


  • Knowledge of web best practice, with a focus on usability and content

  • Experience of improving online conversion through usability improvements

  • Proven stakeholder management experience in a complex, international environment

  • Awareness of different cultural needs of different International markets


  • Effective agency briefing skills and appraisal of agency performance

  • Well organised, with an ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Proactive, with an ability to think about business strategically in order to determine analytics needed, then build business and marketing plans
